Wedded Bliss

Being a newly wed comes so naturally to some couples.  I say that statement, as that has been the experience for my husband, Steven and I.  Our love story is one to remember (more about that adventure later), but we have found that most of our relationship discovery has been captured when we are traveling.

We agree that every day life plays a critical role in the molding of a relationship, yet the element of adventure has taught us other essential traits about one another.  Keep reading for couple travel inspiration!

communication

The C word (no, not that one) communication, has evolved between the two of us.  I think most of would agree to either being excellent in this area or needing improvement.  As a firm believer in always aiming for better, traveling has taught us to better communication with one another.  When you're planning a trip or working through transportation dilemmas, it requires speaking to one another to reach a common goal.  Which brings us to our next point...

Common goals

The fantastic thing about traveling as a newly wed is that you are both headed for the same goal or multiple ones!  In our experience, we are both hungry to see what the world has to offer (food especially!).  Another common goal that is an ongoing topic, is our bucket list.  What adventures we want to experience together, etc.

connecting outside the norm

Being a newly wed comes with the thrill of a newfound partnership.  That coupled with adventure can make one heck of a ride!  We find ourselves connecting on a different level when we are outside of our normal element.  There are different questions asked of each other and new memories built this way too.

Memories to last a lifetime

If I could capture every moment I would!  This may be the most obvious reason, but the memories that are ingrained during these times, help establish the foundation of the next step in your relationship.  One day you will find yourselves looking back at a certain experience and hopefully relish in the afterglow of that time your lives.

Learning boundaries

A potentially not so fun experience, but can speak volumes to one another.  Learning each other's boundaries about various situations can help mold the path for your future together.  It may teach when it is appropriate to push further or when your partner is ready to stop.  One experience we share was during a snorkel adventure on Maui, HI.  I had an out of the norm panic attack and had to signal Steven under water to head back to shore.  He learned a great deal in what triggered that for me and I learned how to better communicate in an awkward time of distress. Boundaries could be extreme (like that experience) or as small as, what types of food you are willing to try!
There are many reasons to travel with your new husband/wife, but these are our top 5!  What reasons hold true for you?  We would love to hear from you below!
