We assume that most people think of phenomenal beaches and pineapple drinks, when it comes to thoughts of Hawaii. While that is not far from the reality of island life, there is another wholesome aspect to consider as well; tropical plantations.
One of our first stops when we journeyed to Maui, was their Maui Tropical Plantation! Steven knows I love going to farmers markets and the like, so he made sure that this was on our to do list on this trip.

Arriving at the plantation
Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the bright colors or the scenery and friendly "alohas" from the locals. The plantation is absolutely walk-able and the best part is that it's FREE to enter the grounds! For a fee they also have a wonderful tour of the plantation itself and the wonders that take place on the grounds.
Also located on the property are the Mill House Restaurant and the Mill House Roasting Company. We did not get a chance to experience the restaurant on this visit, but the coffee was fantastic and smelled like heaven (at least what I would imagine to be).
One of my favorite parts of exploring here was the Kumu Farms Stand. This little shop had all the local treasure you could want to eat on your vacation to Hawaii. We indulged in some fresh fruit to take back to our resort.
Lastly, there is the fun gift shop. The best part of visiting local spots like this one is that they have excellent gifts to bring back to friends and family. Do not pass up the local items to pack home!
Here are some more of the photos we captured during our visit to the plantation.
Add to your to do list
